SUZA Case Challenge 2021

The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) under Building Stronger University Project
(BSU) invites students to spend 48 hours to develop solutions to a specific case challenge
on COVID-19 14-17 January 2021.
Zanzibar as many other countries in the world has been hit and affected by the challenges
caused by the pandemic of COVID-19 . This widespread disease has caused many problems
to many people and sectors in Zanzibar. Immediate solutions are needed to overcome such
rampant phenomenon and have solution on standby on any other pandemic that might hit the
world in the future.
To tackle the impact of COVID-19 in Zanzibar, the State University of Zanzibar sees the
demand of innovative teamwork across disciplines available at SUZA. The case challenge
competition situation calls for new thinking on how to design and sustain resilient Zanzibar in
ways that secure the lives and wellbeing of people as well as all sectors affected by the
COVID-19. This again requires commitment and collaboration across disciplines and sectors
including strong ties between planners, decision makers, professionals and students and
active engagement of the full spectrum of citizens.
The SUZA Case Challenge 2021 is now Open for registration (click here).

Practical information

The SUZA Case Challenge 2021 is open to students from all SUZA campuses. A team must
have six students members. If you do not have a team, please visit the matchmaking groups
on WhatsApp (click here) or Facebook (click here). Students have great success in finding
the right team to join through these platforms.
What is a case challenge?
In a case challenge (also often called a case competition) participating teams strive to develop
the best solution to a real-world issue presented by a business or organization, most often
within a 24– or 48-hour time-span. Each team presents its solution both in writing (one
page) and as a short oral pitch to a jury (5-10 minutes). All teams receive pitch training to
prepare them for the final presentation.
