ABOUT DIRECTORATE OF LIBRARY SERVICES

The Library of the State University of Zanzibar was first established in 1979 as the library of the Institute of Kiswahili and Foreign Languages (IKFL). Following the establishment of the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) under the Act No. 8 of 1999 of the Zanzibar House of Representatives and officially commenced to operate in 2002, the former IKFL library was phased out and became the State University of Zanzibar Library (SUZA Library).

Since then the SUZA library has been expanded and reorganized to fit in with the demand of the various academic programmes offered and undertaken by the University at all levels and increase in students population. read more
