Chinese delegation led by Prof. Li Lan, the Vice President of the Graduate School of Tongji University, Shanghai paid a visit at the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) on Tuesday 27th August, 2019.

The purpose of their visit was to learn about graduate education at SUZA. TongjiUniversity and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) jointly established ‘Environmental and Sustainable Development Institute’ aimed at recruiting Masters and Doctoral students from over sixty countries mainly from Africa in which Tanzania makes a big share.

The delegation also intends to find out about the exchanges and policies of graduate students at SUZA and find exchange and cooperation projects.

In addition to the above, the mission targeted to understand the employment situation of graduate students from Tanzanians graduated from Chinese universities and reflect on the postgraduate education in Chinese universities.

Prof. Idris Rai, the Vice Chancellor of the State University of Zanzibar on his side informed the delegation that Zanzibar treasures the long-term relationship withChina and that through this relationship SUZA has cooperation with many Chinese academic institutions and still needs to have more for the sake of developing the university and build its capacity.
