SUZA visits Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) |
The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) paid a courtesy call to the Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) office in Dar es Salaam on the 4th January 2012. The objective of the visit was two fold; firstly, for the new Vice Chancellor of SUZA to introduce himself and express appreciation for the continued support from TEA to SUZA, and to present the new revised vision of SUZA.
The Vice Chancellor met with the TEA Director General, Ms. Rosemary A. Lulabuka where he expressed his sincere appreciation following support that TEA has been providing to the State University of Zanzibar especially on the pre-entry program (PEP) which has been very successful in building a foundation of science students. The Vice Chancellor called for strengthened partnership between the two institutions.
Ms. Rosemary A. Lulabuka, on other hand, introduced TEA to the new SUZA Vice Chancellor. She stated that TEA is under the Ministry of Education of Vocational Training of Tanzania Mainland that was established to solicit funds from individuals and corporates to support educations projects in Tanzania. While TEA supports educational initiatives in Tanzania mainland at all levels of education, Zanzibar can receives grants or loans only at higher education level.
Ms. Rosemary promised to continue to work closely with SUZA management to ensure that the existing partnership is strengthened. She also laid out current priority areas for funding where SUZA may benefit from.
