CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Organized by all higher learning institutions in Tanzania offering distance learning and hosted by the University of Dodoma, this 6th International Conference of Distance Education Association of Tanzania (DEATA) will be held on 8-10th March, 2017, at the University of Dodoma.
Dodoma is the capital city of Tanzania. It is situated in the middle of Tanzania and is connected well with many other regions in the North (Kondoa and Arusha), East (Morogoro and Dar-es-salaam), South (Iringa and Mbeya) and West, (Mwanza and Kigoma). The city is surrounded by Unbelievably Beautiful Stone hills that makes it unique. Its mild weather makes the city a place that anyone would like to be and enjoy. The city can be reached easly by air and by road.
The University of Dodoma is located 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) east of downtown Dodoma, and the campus size is 6,000 hectare in Chimwaga. UDOM is not only a beautiful modern university but also the biggest conventional University in East and Central Africa.
The conference will bring together scholars from all over the world to make presentations on the role of Distance Education in Socio-economic Development.

CONFERENCE THEME: ROLE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION IN SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The deadline for submission of full papers or PowerPoint presentation is January 15, 2017. Most papers presented at the conference will be selected and published in peer reviewed journals affiliated to the Open University of Tanzania. The official language of the conference is English. The conference will consist of ten colloquia organized along themes. One, (11th colloquium) is reserved for PhD candidates who would like to present their works and to get feedback.
Colloquium 1: Role of DE in breaking the Iron triangle (access, cost and quality)
Colloquium 2: e-learning resources including human, OERs, MOOCs, multi-media technologies
Colloquium 3: Distance Education and new pedagogies (flip, blended, hybrid)
Colloquium 4: Economics of Open and Distance Learning (ODL)
Colloquium 5: ODL in Science and Technology related fields
Colloquium 6: ODL and Collaboration and partnership
Colloquium 7: ODL and human rights (gender, disability, socio-economic status, etc)
Colloquium 8: ODL policy, governance and leadership
Colloquium 9: ODL and Sustainable development
Colloquium 10: ODL research, monitoring and evaluation
Colloquium 11: PhD Candidates’ Presentations
