About us

The major role of the Procurement Management Unit (PMU) of the State University of Zanzibar is to provide expertise and services in procurement, storage and supply of goods and services for the University.

The activities of the Unit are as follows:

  • Manage all procurement and disposal activities of the State University of Zanzibar except adjudication and the award of a contract.
  • Supporting the rationing of the tender board.
  • Implement the decision of the tender board.
  • Liaise directly with the department on matters within its jurisdiction.
  • Plan the procurement and disposal activities of the State University of Zanzibar.
  • Recommend Procurement and disposal procures.
  • Check and prepare statements of requirements.
  • Prepare bid documents.
  • Prepare advertisement for bid opportunities.
  • Issue bidding documents.
  • Maintain providers list.
  • Prepare contracts documents.
  • Issue approved contracts documents.
  • Act as secretariat to the tender board.
  • Maintain and achieve records of the procurement and disposal process.
  • Co-ordinate the procurement and disposal activities of the entire unit.
  •  Prepare any other such reports as may be required from time to time.
